Maxian + Horst is a Landscape Architectural firm that specializes in the design of outdoor spaces for human activity. We are an established firm that provides these services directly to clients such as schools, colleges, architects and municipalities. A complete personalized service with an emphasis on thorough background research and a sound implementation process is tailored to your individual needs. Maxian + Horst is skilled at facilitating and involving the various constituencies (i.e., Athletic Directors, coaches and community members. Further, it is our policy, and the cornerstone of our success, to maintain continuous and thorough communication between a partner and you. Maxian + Horst has over 38 years experience in working with clients to obtain site plan and subdivision approval for projects ranging from housing to healthcare to commercial to industrial projects.

Our People

Allen Maxian was the project manager for athletic facilities development at Altmar Parish Williamstown Central School District, New York Mills Union Free District and design development at Fabius-Pompey Central Schools. Allan is currently overseeing the planning and design of athletic facilities at Cato-Meridian Central School District, St. Johnsville Central School District and athletic and site improvements at Fabius Pompey Central School District. Recently Allan was the designer/construction manager on the design build team for the construction of two new soccer fields in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District.

Allan is also a licensed soccer coach and head girls soccer coach at a local high school. Further he has three daughters that have played soccer, softball, volleyball and track from modified to varsity level. We feel strongly that this personal experience, love of the benefits of sports play a key role in his dedication to building quality athletic facilities brings a key component to your design team.

Ms. Terry Horst is usually the Project Development Partner on any given project. Terry is a licensed landscape architect with 12 years experience in the development of project packages. She is directly responsible for the development of project documents from the planning stage to the schematic design stage. Terry is currently overseeing athletic facility and site improvements at the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District as well as the development of athletic facilities at Bolivar Road which is being accomplished by the Chittenango Central School District and community groups.

As partners Mr. Maxian and Ms. Horst are involved in the detailed development of every project. We feel in this manner that each brings to a project their individual experience and design philosophies which provide the client a broader range of planning expertise. A partner is designated the Managing and Contact Partner and at all times is available and accountable to your representatives.
